Shake Rattle and Roll Event

Oh yes, we did!  Lynn and I are at it again.  Here we are just a rockin' while gathering energy for our Big Event at the Players Community Center last month.
Heart2Heart Circles loaded up their instruments once again and gathered their drummers and belly dancers and headed to The Players Club Center for their first debut event - Shake Rattle and Roll.

Lynn sang 3 of her new songs - White Buffalo, Volcano Gonna Blow, Rocket to my Soul, and then a few other long-time favorites.  I played it safe and accompanied with percussion and drum while keeping the beat with my hips, feet, and lip sync!  That is where my rhythm is!

Either way, we rocked the house.  Many of the ladies were up dancing and swinging their boa's with Lacy Alexandra, our wonderfully talented belly dancer from Renaissance Healing Center.

We had a blast!

We also led a little call and response drum circle which was loads of fun and the audience participated immediately.  They have years of rhythm in their bones.
Joining from the women's drum circle was Janice, Michelle, and Rudell along with her grandson.  Drumming is for everyone.  From the Senior Center, we had Mary, Elizabeth, and Rose.  A perfect generational mix of rhythm and connection.

See you next time.!

Art in the Park - Atlantic Beach

ART IN THE PARK!!!!!

Atlantic Beach is on to something! The 6th Annual Art in the Park was held last Saturday at Johansen Park in Atlantic Beach. If you missed it, you missed it!

Over 60 juried artists, dance troops (including belly dancers,) and musicians filled the park with their art, crafts, and creativity. The shading of the oak trees made it a day to bring the chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets and stay a while!

What I love about this festival is the variety of artists displaying their work. One of my favorites was local Expressionistic Artist - Sharon Westbrook. Whether you saw her first or last -- you surely remember her work. I have 3 of her paintings already in my home and I know there are more to come. Sharon's website is http://www.sharonwestbrook.com/.

Adding to the variety of artists, I met the delightful Rudell Kopp, first time author of the adorable book - 'Just Like Brothers....in the Beginning.' Rudell's goal has been to make a difference in children's lives, and has accomplished this dream by unleashing this first book and inspirational tale. Between the amazing illustrations, provided by James Lynch of Atlantic Beach, who brought the characters in the book to life visually and her charming blend of characters -- this is a must read for our children and grandchildren.

Rudell is out and about promoting her book -- you can find out where at http://www.rudellkopp-kidsbooks.net/ or rudell@aol.com.

My, last-but not least, favorite of the day was Araceli Diaz - photographer and artist. Using a fish-eye lens and a panoramic view, Araceli creates the most unique paintings of our local spots in the Jacksonville Beaches and surrounding areas. She will be at the Artistree Gallery soon and can be contacted for more information at photographyby_arachelidiaz@hot.mail.com -->
