Spiritual protesters gather to pour water, heal ocean after spill
On Tuesday, protestors across the country marked the 50th day of the oil spill in the gulf with protest full of signs and shouts. But Marilyn Wilson wanted to do something different to solve the environmental crises.
She decided to depart from western methods and hold a spiritual event.
Wilson received a forwarded e-mail with a message from Chief Arvol Looking Horse, of the Nakota Nation of the Sioux, asking people of all faiths and religions to pray for the oil spill to stop and for the oceans to heal.
Her friend, Connor Sauer, suggested a ceremony where each person brings a vial of water to the ocean to give back to Mother Earth.
When she was planning the healing ceremony on Facebook, Wilson didn’t even realize the date she picked was on the 50th day of the spill. She said it was just a coincidence.
More than 50 people showed up to the event on Atlantic Beach. They poured their vials of water their into a bowl as Lynn Curtin sang a song she wrote about the white buffalo — a symbol for solidarity to many Native Americans.
Wilson said it wasn’t religious, but it was a spiritual event to make people more aware of their actions.
"Everything we do today will effect the world 10 years from now," she said.
Bystanders on the beach began to quiet down and observe the ceremony as they walked their mixed water to the ocean.
Wilson said she hoped they "opened a window in people’s mind to make them stop and think about their actions."
Wilson is a drummer and woman’s coach, but she was quick to defend herself against charges of being a hippy.
"We’re normal people, not a hippy drum group," she said. But she does think the world needs more of a feminine conscious — she wants to see more caring and healing.

Healing Ceremony Opens Hearts
June 8, 2010 was a beautiful healing day for our growing community of individuals eager to take part and be a part of a change in the way we do things.
In an outreach from Chief Arvol Looking Horse of the Sioux Tribe, we gathered in Atlantic Beach in a ceremony of healing -- healing mother ocean and mother earth. Nurturing and tending to the wound of the oil spill catastrophe.
Our friends, beach onlookers, and local community interest individuals shared vials of water from their homes and ceremoniously combined the waters in a wooden bowl and carried enmass to the ocean's edge.
With all bodies, hands, and minds touching we offered pure and clean water to Mother Ocean on World Ocean Day. She accepted the water and gathered it quickly so to wash the wound of the oil.
It was beautiful and sad at the same time, but peace was brought to us on that special day.
Lynn Curtin played the guitar and sang her new song ' White Buffalo' as the group drummed, Gerald Behler played the flute, and received the energy from the didgeridoo from Constance Frankenberg.
The gathering consisted of business owners, retirees, children, biologists, musicians, drummers, writers, etc.
such as Sharon Elliott, Kathleen Boudreau, Lauren and Nada, Joan Niegler, Lelia, Deb Goin, Bette Bucci, Kate Cordell of Ocean Yoga, and many more.
The next day, Joan shared with us a poem she wrote while still glowing from the day before:
A SAD TALE
I live in a time,
When there is water and earth
Air and fire
They are constant
But I had forgotten
How sharply their powers
Conflict with the power of man
I’m back in my spirit
No longer ignoring
The reality of things
Not seen or heard
Only felt and imagined
Accept
Embrace
Sadness that surrounds us
Will balance
With happiness
That waits for a solution
Look for it
Hope for it
Find it
Or
Someday, children will be taught
How flowers bloomed
In every color of the rainbow
Oh yes,
Rainbows were prisms of color the sky
The sky was blue
Clouds were white
Forests were thick with the tallest trees
Oceans were constantly in motion
With waves rippling to the sandy shore
All of this took place
In an ancient world
Called Earth.

Dare Your Divinity - A Success!
With Mystery and Delight, women gathered to dare their divinity when Connor Sauer facilitated a one-day retreat/workshop in Atlantic Beach, Florida on May 22. ‘Dare Your Divinity’ was hosted by Marilyn Wilson and Lynn Curtin of Heart2Heart Circles (two new entrepreneurs in the drumming circuit) and was held at Ocean Yoga Center. Connor weaved her wisdom and spirituality throughout a day filled with drumming, visualization, dancing, singing, and storytelling bringing over 30 women together in a fantastic voyage of freedom. The women, from different areas of the community, found their oneness in this new community of women willing to walk together as side-bys and show up for each other in the “Woman’s Way.”

Valentine's Day - Feelin' the Love
An awesome group of women gathered for Valentine's Day at the Renaissance Center for our Monthly Women's Drum Circle.
Women know the heart, women feel the heartbeat. When women gather - the heartbeat is strong!
Six new drummers that evening, and the divine energy filled the room.
With Lynn leading a new rhythm - IBO - as part of Drumming Up Hope for Haiti - we were all soon entrained and feeling the beat together.
We know our energy was lifted up and will inspire all of us to remember our neighbors, suffering still from the devastating earthquake, and do what we can for the cause.
Rudell shared a poem she wrote and we drummed as she recited it over and over again until it radiated beyond us and entered the universe's frequency.
A wonderful group - awesome drumming -- and a perfect evening.
Thank you all.

Shake Rattle and Roll Event
Oh yes, we did! Lynn and I are at it again. Here we are just a rockin' while gathering energy for our Big Event at the Players Community Center last month.
Heart2Heart Circles loaded up their instruments once again and gathered their drummers and belly dancers and headed to The Players Club Center for their first debut event - Shake Rattle and Roll.
Lynn sang 3 of her new songs - White Buffalo, Volcano Gonna Blow, Rocket to my Soul, and then a few other long-time favorites. I played it safe and accompanied with percussion and drum while keeping the beat with my hips, feet, and lip sync! That is where my rhythm is!
We had a blast!
We also led a little call and response drum circle which was loads of fun and the audience participated immediately. They have years of rhythm in their bones.
Joining from the women's drum circle was Janice, Michelle, and Rudell along with her grandson. Drumming is for everyone. From the Senior Center, we had Mary, Elizabeth, and Rose. A perfect generational mix of rhythm and connection.
See you next time.!
