Dare Your Divinity - A Success!

With Mystery and Delight, women gathered to dare their divinity when Connor Sauer facilitated a one-day retreat/workshop in Atlantic Beach, Florida on May 22. ‘Dare Your Divinity’ was hosted by Marilyn Wilson and Lynn Curtin of Heart2Heart Circles (two new entrepreneurs in the drumming circuit) and was held at Ocean Yoga Center. Connor weaved her wisdom and spirituality throughout a day filled with drumming, visualization, dancing, singing, and storytelling bringing over 30 women together in a fantastic voyage of freedom. The women, from different areas of the community, found their oneness in this new community of women willing to walk together as side-bys and show up for each other in the “Woman’s Way.”

Valentine's Day - Feelin' the Love

An awesome group of women gathered for Valentine's Day at the Renaissance Center for our Monthly Women's Drum Circle.

Women know the heart, women feel the heartbeat.  When women gather - the heartbeat is strong!

Six new drummers that evening, and the divine energy filled the room.

With Lynn leading a new rhythm - IBO - as part of Drumming Up Hope for Haiti - we were all soon entrained and feeling the beat together.

We know our energy was lifted up and will inspire all of us to remember our neighbors, suffering still from the devastating earthquake, and do what we can for the cause.

Rudell shared a poem she wrote and we drummed as she recited it over and over again until it radiated beyond us and entered the universe's frequency.

Even though Lynn had to leave a little early for her Valentine evening with hubby, we all stayed and continued with Call and Response, Drumming our own solo rhythms, and remembering to 'relax and get to know the drum' with the help of Michelle Van Etten.

A wonderful group - awesome drumming -- and a perfect evening.

Thank you all.

Being Side-Bys = For My Women Friends, known and unknown

This is a wonderful intention written by Connor Sauer.  Connor will be coming to Jacksonville in May, 2010 and will be leading A Woman's Gathering.  Mark the date of 5/22/10.  More information will follow.  Here is what Connor lives by:

Being Side-Bys ©

By Connor Sauer

I do all that I possibly can to contribute to the world being populated with women (and yes, men and children) who know themselves to be beautiful,self-confident, spirit and soul centered, grounded in the practical.

I honor and treasure women who choose to walk with awareness, integrity, honesty and impeccability to the fullest extent they are able at any moment in time, who are willing to mature and deepen in their wisdom with consequent choice of action and words, and who make room for others’ greatness, skills and gifts, as their side-bys.

I am side-by to these women, as we stand next to each other in a circle of peers.

A Drum Roll, Please!

When 100 women pick up a drum and begin to sync up their rhythms, the energy and power in the moment is transcendent.

That happened this past weekend at the IAMMOXYWOMEN Conference in St. Pete, Fl.

I thought just meeting Christine Stevens, the well-known international drum facilitator, would be stupendous. I was overjoyed at being a part of the Mahaffey Center's Drum Circle during this all day and evening conference/concert.

Christine is a commanding presence as she toys with the rhythms of the different instruments. She conducts the drummers as if they were one instrument. Christine's body language, engaging smile and energy build into a crescendo of rhytmic beat and song as if only one very loud and strong heartbeat was pounding.

Pow-er-ful stuff!
With guest performances by Faith Rivera, for one; speakers such as Linda Lidday, and over 100 wome exhibiting their talents, gifts, and passions, we find out what women are doing and how they are changing the world....such as: http://www.drumquest.com/; http://www.coachminx.com/; http://www.remo.com/; and many more.

Belly-dancers and amazing artists, such as Lori at http://www.lorisalisburygallery.com/.

Jean Harper, her passion, her staff (Susan Collins, for one) - did an excellent job putting this FIRST TIME EVER IAMMOXYWOMEN CONFERENCE together. Thank you, Jean!

Remember, in the age of aquarius.....the women take over the power, the children follow, and the men give it over. Be there.

I was moved beyond imagination to be a part of this incredible group of MoxyWomen on this NIGHT OF THE FULL MOON.

If you weren't there, then look for it next year, still in St. Pete. I understand they want to bring it to Jacksonville in the next few years, so be prepared. Stay tuned by signing up at: http://iammoxywomen.com/.

You can find Christine too at: http://www.ubdrumcircles.com/ and http://www.remo.com/

i AM POWERED UP!

I know the pictures aren't that good......wanted to give just a taste...i was too busy 'being' than 'doing.' :)

Dream it - They Will Come!

My Vision has always been to find a way to gather women. A way to share our stories and our dreams. A way go gain strength from the connection and energy of other women.

When I opened this door into the drumming community, I came face to face with my dream of interweaving music, dance, poetry, and women together forming one united sisterhood.

How perfect!

A place where no experience is required. A place where your drum is your voice and your heartbeat is your rhythm. The first beat we ever heard was the heartbeat of a woman...............here we continue this beat!

Tippy Toes!

All Work and No Play makes for very unhappy women!

With that in mind, two lives collided coincidentally at our local Ponte Vedra nail salon - Elite Nails - for a spa pedi and mani.

Talking to Leigh Cort on the phone when running over to get my pedicure, I was surprised when she said that she, too, was jumping in her car to get her nails done. "You're kidding," I said. But, as she walked in the door and sat next to me in the massage chairs -- I thought, "What a surprise get together. We could not have planned it so perfectly."

The technicians, Kim and Ana, thought we were very funny -- and enjoyed all they could understand.

Leigh was aoctually spending the gift certificate I had given her for her birthday and I was thrilled to be enjoying it with her.

Plus, we picked the same toenail polish :) --- Fun!

Mayors...Chairs.....Party.....A Not To Be Missed Event!

Our Beaches Mayors are serving as Honorary Chairs of Beaches Party to benefit the Beaches Women’s Partnership.

Beaches Women’s Partnership’s Annual Seaside Shindig and Beaches Party presented by Medical Partners of America is usually a standing room only event.

Held oceanside each year, the event is beaches casual fun at its best!

This year is proving to be no exception! In addition to a fabulous silent and live auction, the Beaches Women’s Partnership’s event committee has pulled out all of the stops to insure fun from the moment guests arrive. From lobster tossing and putting contests to dancing to the sounds of the Johnston Duo, to honoring Pegine Echevarria as the first "Pearl of the Beaches," there is literally something for everyone.

Joining BWP in honoring her will be Beaches Mayors and this year’s Honorary Co-Chairs Atlantic Beach Mayor John Meserve, Neptune Beach Mayor Harriett Pruette and Jacksonville Beach Mayor Fland Sharp.

The event takes place on Friday, July 17 at 7 p.m. at Casa Marina in Jacksonville Beach.

Tickets are just $75 each and can be purchased by calling (904) 249-1450.

KRIPALU RETREAT ---- A TREAT!!!!

Now that I've been, I must go back!!!!!

We just don't see these types of views here in Florida. Everything seems so large and expansive when looking out over nature's beauty!

The workshop with Joan Anderson was incomparable and enlightening. A must for women approaching or over 50! A way to appreciate ourselves and unite with other women facing our futures, banding together, and supporting each other.

Additionally, having Kripalu as a base for our workshop was The Best! Everything offered at Kripalu was available to us when we were not in class.
For those of you who don't know about Kripalu, I recommend checking out their site and their course offerings. Plentiful!
Kripalu used to be an Ashram where the naturalists, hippies, and yogi's communed. It has since expanded to include others; yet remains true to it's humble beginnings serving organic and vegetarian food with herbal teas.
Only recently has non-vegetarian and coffee been added. Yet, I can assure you the food is exquisite and served 3 times a day in large quantities.

Shhhh!!!!! Silent breakfast, lunch and dinner are options if your visit is to escape and spend time meditating, thinking, or just finding solitude. Here it is not only acceptable, it is encouraged. Using the eyes and not the mouth is essential when taking in the beauty and the intention of Kripalu.

The rooms are simple, yet ample. The hiking path, the fire pit, the labrynth, the wonderful yoga classes and awesome spa are all part of the amenities and not to be missed. Never have I been in a yoga class with over 100 participants and all speaking 'OHM' at the same time. That is elevating all by itself. Classic!

My favorite was the 'SILENCE' badge that one can wear to avoid communicating unnecessarily --it allows a person to become invisible for a time. Frank said he wants to institute that here at our house :(

I will be back to Kripalu and I will participate in more of Joan Anderson's retreats wherever they are. Check out both websites for your own journey beyond.................

BOA's.....

The perfect night to dig through our closets and pull out our colorful Boa's.(feathered Boa's, that is!) If you don't bring your own -- you could buy one that night!

All in keeping with the mood of the evening - boa's, women, and lots of powerful estrogen filled the concert hall of FCCJ's Wilson Center for Girls Night - The Musical.

My daughter, Jenna, and I were completely thrilled by the performance.

Starting with Act I thru the finale, we laughed, danced, felt the emotion of life stages, sang some of the greatest songs such as: Man, I feel like a Woman, We are Family, Lady Marmalade, and I Will Survive, and clapped, and clapped, and clapped.

The awesome cast blew us away with their personalities, voices, and antics. Oh, how we can relate to their stories!

Many good 'one-liners' that I hope to remember.

What a Story -- What a Night!
Lots of Fun and A Don't Miss for Sure!

Create It and They Will Come!

To begin a dream, one must imagine it.

To live the dream, one must create it!

So they did!

Sharon Qualls had a dream.....a dream to fulfill her life purpose in a 'space of her own.'

As a Life Coach, Sharon connects at the most spiritual and passionate levels to guide you along your path to self-actualization and self-worth. When you join Sharon in her 'Tree House" studio office in Atlantic Beach, you will feel the freedom and safety of the environment created.

With Carolyn Drazien, of Funky Shui Divas Decorating, the 'once-upon-a-time' extra bedroom was recently converted to this magnificent studio office.

Sharon and her clients will experience magical moments of reflection, journey, and personal Aha's during their time together in this tree-top studio.

Carolyn and her team pulled up carpet, replacing with awesome wood floors, painted walls, built office work areas and wet bars, and filled the new studio with an eclectic mix of furniture and accessories.

Carolyn's eye for the warm and edgy along with her ability to listen, learn, and utilize the client's own mix of creations and artifacts, enables her to be the 'one we call' for staging, recreating, or new beginnings when decorating.

Carolyn creates 'spaces to live for.'

Last night, we joined Sharon and Carolyn in the 'blessing' of the new space.

We enjoyed a few activities, such as using the beautiful wood bowl, to drop in 'our cares and woes' and watch them turn to ashes as we all set forth on new horizons.

Sharon Elliot, our writing coach and guide, led the blessing and offered her special gift of words to the occasion.

Bette Bucci and Julie Trednick also brought their special energy and support to the studio as we all shared a few stories, laughs, and flutes of champagne.

A wonderful evening of souls uniting and supporting Sharon in her dream!

You may contact Sharon and Carolyn for information or appointments. Sharon Qualls at alasfire@aol.com; Carolyn at 904-718-1867.

Life is a River

As I curiously seek answers to find my potential and fulfill my life's purpose, I find myself being encouraged by friends (Abby, for one) and a growing community of supportive women.

This last weekend, I particpated in a fantastic workshop presented by Dale Beaman of Beaman Coaching. Held downtown in the Aetna Building overlooking the beautiful St. John River -- it was easy to be swept along. The workshop title was 'Life Is A River,' and so it went.

Dale created the perfect environment for us. We played, we created, we meditated, we sang (see right column), and we experienced revelations that will keep us unstuck and able to continue to flow with our lives.

Clearly, I'm not an artist, but there is freedom in this drawing! Freedom to live the life given to me, and I'm ready to keep going with the flow and see where it takes me. In the meantime, I'm sure enjoying the ride.

If you get the chance to experience a workshop with Dale, you, too, will get on the boat and go with the flow. I'll be boating too........join me!

Face It! You're So Vain!

Mother's Day Weekend Kick-off!

Starting this morning with a foot massage, hand massage, head massage, and facial wins the prize for favorite things to do for Mother's Day!

My friend, Leigh Cort, promised me that if I was 'good,' I could join her this morning in a little Mother's Day surprise. And, because I'm good, very good-actually, I sped to her home this morning to join her as Loretta Lynn Leda introduced us to her new Mobile Spa Service business.

Using gentle and aromatic products Loretta soothed our feet, annointed our hands, and smoothed our faces for the utmost in at-home enjoyment. The results were terrific and we swore we would never wear makeup again on our revived faces and are sure we look 25 years younger.
The Green Tea Face Masque that heated up as it was applied was my favorite! ........Sold!

We humbly showed you our BEFORE; now, we also modestly show you our AFTER!
